Halloween in New York has never been a one-costume kind of occasion. The city celebrates with downtown parades, Broadway voices, crowded dance floors and some very committed dressing up. This year, Halloween falls on a Saturday, giving New Yorkers and visitors a full weekend to get involved.

From a neighborhood cabaret a few steps from your room to the unmistakable spectacle of the Village Halloween Parade, these are the 2026 Halloween events worth leaving Hell’s Kitchen for.

See the Village Halloween Parade

Every October 31, Sixth Avenue fills with giant puppets, marching bands, dancers, and thousands of New Yorkers wearing costumes that clearly took more than one trip to the craft store.

The 53rd Annual Village Halloween Parade begins at 7:00 p.m. and travels north along Sixth Avenue from Canal Street to 15th Street. Watching from the sidewalk is free. If you want to join the parade itself, arrive in costume at the lineup area near Canal Street and Sixth Avenue between 6:30 and 9:00 p.m. Only costumed participants can march.

For spectators, our advice is simple: head downtown early and choose a spot toward the northern end of the Halloween parade route. The sidewalks fill quickly, especially around West 4th and 8th Streets.

Keep It Local at The Spooky Spectacular

You do not have to go far to find one of the best Halloween events near Hell’s Kitchen. The 3rd Annual Spooky Spectacular takes over 54 Below for one night only, bringing together performers from Broadway, national tours, and television for a late-night Halloween concert.

Expect big voices, pop-rock arrangements, and familiar Halloween songs in one of the neighborhood’s most intimate rooms. Doors open at 9:00 p.m., which leaves enough time for a drink or an early dinner before the show. Best of all, your trip home is little more than a walk around the corner.

Harryween has built a reputation for ambitious audience costumes, surprise covers, and an MSG crowd ready to treat a concert like the city’s biggest Halloween party. Costumes are welcome, but the venue does not permit large headpieces, full-face paint, fake weapons, or anything that could block another guest’s view. Save the six-foot angel wings for the parade.

Join the NYC Official Halloween Bar Crawl

Beginning at Coyote Ugly in the East Village, the crawl runs from late afternoon into the night, with check-in available between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. Your wristband provides access to participating venues, drink specials and the evening’s costume contest. The full route is supplied at check-in, so consider the first venue a starting point rather than the whole plan.
